Dear Friends,
After being censored by the Council of Europe and giving the increasing difficulties to obtain public information from EP for our investigations, we decided to send a “trojan horse” in the European Parliament. The Balkanleaks speaker and investigative journalist Atanas Tchobanov will run for the 2014 MEP elections from the Bulgarian Greens, together with green activist Daniela Bozhinova.
Voting for us, you will not propel two politicians INTO power, but will send an investigative journalist and a civic activist AGAINST abuse of power. Together with the classic environmental green topics we will raise the following themes:
Follow the money; take it away from mafia:
- Exclude offshore companies from access to public funds;
- Whistleblowers protection and reward with certain percentage for insiders giving bank information which reveals concealed income;
- Well-functioning EU internal exchange of data pertaining to financial crimes and expansion of the competencies of the future European Public Prosecutor;
- Equality before the law (no sacred cows);
Independent and free media:
- Transparent funding, knowing who are the physical end owners;
- Having a European Union program for investigative journalism instead of grants for PR of Europe (sometimes awarded to politician relatives);
- Support for the European Citizens’ Initiative for Media Pluralism
Transparent institutions; protected citizens:
- Transparency and accountability of European and national institutions not just on paper, but in reality (we want the dirty linen of power on the clothesline, not in the laundry basket);
- Equal rights inside and outside the internet environment (traffic data retention, electronic spying);
- Effective protection of citizens’ personal data;
- Neutral internet without domestic and foreign “supervisors” (Big Brother in retirement).

Гласувайки за нас не изпращате двама политици ВЪВ властта, а разследващ журналист и граждански активист СРЕЩУ злоупотребите с властта. Освен класическите “зелени” теми лично аз се ангажирам и със следните неща:
Следвай парите, отнеми ги от Мафията:
- изключване на офшорките от достъп до обществени средства (евродиректива);
- възнаграждаване с процент на приносителите на банкова информация, която разкрива укрити доходи (евродиректива);
- работещ вътрешнообщностен обмен на данни за финансови престъпления и разширяване на компетенциите на бъдещата Европейска прокуратура;
- равнопоставеност пред закона (без свещени крави);
Независими и свободни медии:
- прозрачно финансиране, деклариране на крайните
- вместо грантове за пиар на Европа (за роднини и моники) – европейска програма за разследваща журналистика;
- подкрепа за Европейската гражданска инициатива за медиен плурализъм;
Институциите на проветриво, гражданите на завет:
- Прозрачност и отчетност на европейските и национални институции не на хартия, а на дело (Кирливите ризи на властта ги искаме на простора а не в коша за пране);
- Равенство на правата във и извън електронната среда (трафични данни, електронно следене);
- Ефективна защита на личните данни на гражданите;
- Неутрален интернет без наши и чужди надзиратели (Биг Брадър в пенсия);
